DirectRooms.com reveals that a conference taking place in Malaysia will be assessing the state of wetland areas in Asia and coming up with new solutions to ensure they're reliably protected.

During the Asian Wetland Symposium 2011, government and environment agencies will be meeting with the business sector to identify which areas are under the greatest risk. Leading experts from all over the continent will be talking attendees through how successful projects have been implemented to identify how areas can be maintained.

Key areas of the talks will highlight the role wetlands have in controlling climate change and critically, how integration with forests can create sustainable development within communities and eradicate poverty.

Several presentations will relate directly to each speaker's country to allow attendees to learn about different environments and to share ideas on how techniques can be adapted to other conservation areas.

Other core elements to the symposium will be the collaboration with businesses and industrial areas to work towards improved methods of using land resources sustainably. This will include methods to ensure that there is no discharge created by factories such as palm oil mills and how the ecotourism business can be run reliably.

Attendees using cheap Johor Bahru hotels will need to get to Kota Kinabalu's Magellan Sutera Hotel by the harbour between 18th and 20th July 2011.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Places at hotels are due to be limited so it's advisable for everyone taking part to book as soon as possible."
