WORCESTER MA - The Worcester Psychiatric Hospital project team in Worcester, MA recently celebrated one million safe hours from January 2008 to June 2011. The one million safe hours included 1,800 employees working for 82 different on-site contractors. The project team has conducted more than 1,000 safety inspections totaling 122,000 safety observations.

The team truly exemplifies Gilbane's philosophy of "Gilbane Cares" through its amazing efforts. Ryan Hutchens, Regional Manager for New England, said, "What an amazing accomplishment for both the team and the trades. I am proud to work with such great people who truly embrace Gilbane Cares."

The new psychiatric hospital will house 320 beds, of which 60 are for adolescents. The building's design features patient community integration through house, neighborhood and downtown concepts. In addition to construction of the new five-wing building, the project includes abatement and demolition of 15 buildings. This construction services project is targeting LEED NC v2.2 Gold level certification. The project is slated for completion mid 2012.
