Parody, Satire, Skit or Just Good Comedy… SPOOF NATION Makes America Laugh
Canoga Park, California July 23, 2011 Entertainment News(PRLEAP.COM) Spoof Nation is an all-new, comedic website presenting outrageous parodies about just about everything. Their mission is to present entertaining, tasteful, devilishly clever and highly compelling "spoofs" to watch, to share, to send, to post, to tweet, to copy and to most thoroughly enjoy.
These are the worst of times and the best of times at least if Spoof Nation™ (www.spoofnation.com) has anything to say about it.
Stepping out of the shadow of record unemployment, soaring national debt, a sinking housing market and the general malaise that has overtaken the average American … is a group of talented satirists out of Los Angeles to make fun of it all.
With the cheery mantra "America the Spoofable," Spoof Nation™ creates entertaining parodies that explore all that is unique about America … the personalities, the reality shows, the national obsessions, and the TV commercials. With their inaugural video under their belt, (the midlife crisis jeering "Old Girl Mole Cream,") Spoof Nation is off to the races with an ambitious slate of clever spoofs that are as witty as they are classics in the making.
After all, SN's founder claims they were inspired by "the heroes of our formative years when we first learned to laugh with the likes of Mel Brooks, Don Rickles, Monty Python, Carol Burnett, John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd." These rogue 'spoofers' believe that we all need to take ourselves less seriously, particularly now when we could use an extra dose of silliness.
Spoof Nation was founded on the belief that parody is good for the soul. In keeping with that school of thought they take aim at America's obsession with weight loss which spawned "The Biggest Loser," and have reinterpreted it into "The Biggest Boozer" which is about careless drinking at an undisclosed California ranch. Instead of Grey's Anatomy, the spoofers are working on "Ray's Anatomy" about the physique of an average, paunch-bellied guy named Ray. There's also "American Hopper," "Desperate Houseflies," "Still Lost" and their ode to the Charlie Sheen saga, "Three Men and a Mad Man"!
Their very next spoof of NBC's hit show "The Voice" is due out next month, and they have re-positioned it as "The Fart" featuring three, celebrity Fartiste judges … Fanny Halitosis, the founder of the Air Biscuit Society; Ima Knicker-Ripper, the author of Soul Farts; and Gaston, a self-proclaimed Exemplary Person of Wind.
For the moment, the Spoof Nation players are not revealing who they are … if only to preserve their "Drive by Spoofing" feature. We do know that you'll want to remember their site and their name because early reviews are indicating that they clearly seem to be on to something. As they say on their site, "the more we spoof and laugh at who and how we are, the happier we'll be. And the more we share our spoofs, the happier we'll all be."
So if laughter is healing … Spoof Nation is very, very good medicine!
