LateRooms.com - Make a splash at the Great Norwich Duck Race

July 31, 2011 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
The Great Norwich Duck Race offers people a fun day out and the opportunity to help raise money for charity.

Due to take place at 16:00 BST on Monday August 29th, the event will see 5,000 rubber ducks released into the River Wensum at St Georges Bridge.

The race is organised by Norfolk-based charity Break, with each duck taking to the water for a minimum donation of £2.

Participating sponsors can then cheer on the yellow plastic competitors as they make their way downstream towards Fye Bridge, where the winner will be announced and prizes handed out.

With a signed Norwich City football shirt, meals for two and weekend breaks up for grabs, the race looks set to be a popular occasion.

The day will also include a corporate race, with local businesses encouraged to donate £100 to enter a 32 cm duck in the contest.

Special banners will be created on the day and a trophy presented to the winner.

Break is a charity that provides supported holidays, mental health services for women, mentoring schemes for young people and a range of other services.

People planning a stay in Norfolk hotels will find a wide range of options at LateRooms.com, which recommends the George Hotel Norfolk.
