DirectRooms.com reports that a special course will be running in Fujairah for doctors that will teach the medical standards needed for trauma care and essential techniques for saving lives.

The Advanced Trauma Life Support for Doctors (ATLS) Provider Course will be made of practical sections where doctors have a hands-on approach to treating patients as well as a series of lectures. The participation in lectures will feature the correct ways to carry out the first assessment of a patient and then how they should be treated.

The classes will also guide attendees through the measures for checking airways, treating shock and injuries such as burns.

A range of trauma conditions will be assessed and the right way to respond to different conditions will be presented including head, abdominal, spine and thoracic trauma. During the practical sessions doctors can perform procedures on simulated patients and this includes ventilation techniques such as inserting tubes through the nose and mouth.

The course has been developed with the trauma committee from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) to ensure better treatment of patients. The classes will take place from 15th to 17th September 2011 at the Fujairah hospital and due to doctors coming from around the UAE to attend hotels in Fujairah are expected to be booking up with attendees.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The ATLS Provider Course is beneficial to so many doctors working in trauma care that the programme is likely to be well attended and hotel rooms will be limited."
