Hotels-London.co.uk - Explore London's finest architecture with Open House

August 19, 2011 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Open House is an annual event that, for one weekend only, opens some of London's most beautiful private buildings to the public, as well as affording a window into some of the most exciting architecural projects in the capital.

On September 17th-18th, visitors can enjoy a sneak peek at normally closed off buildings that have aroused their curiosity, including the vaults under London Bridge rail station, the Royal Albert Hall, the tallest occupied building in the City at Tower 42 and the intriguingly-named Hanging Bathroom of Balham.

Many of the less well-known properties will likely be available to view to those who simply turn up on the day, but for the more illustrious locations, such as the BT Tower, you will need to book in advance, although all events are free.

All those who apply for the popular venues will be entered into a random draw. There will also be an exciting Night Hike for those who wish to explore the architecture in a different light, while there are plenty of family-friendly events available.

Hotels-London.co.uk has plenty of options across the city for visitors to the Open House weekend. At the heart of London, Browns Hotel and St Martins Lane Hotel would make an excellent base from which to explore the buildings.
