Marietta, GA (September 9, 2011) – Gospel Music is the theme of a landmark group exhibition presented by Avisca Fine Art Gallery in Marietta, GA. Planned for September, the month designated as Gospel Music Heritage Month, the exhibition, titled "Shout", features work by 30 visual artists who were selected through an open call for artists to submit work. The exhibition will open with a public reception on Friday September 16, from 6-9 p.m. and will run through September 30, 2011.

The exhibition seeks to examine and celebrate the cultural impact of gospel music and its place in American Christianity, popular music, and our everyday life and will present work in a variety of media and styles, from folk to abstract, and will include sculpture, fabric art, drawings, paintings and photography. Participating artists include popular and nationally known artists with a significant number of emerging artists and young talent also represented.

The exhibition, with its populist theme and democratic selection process, embodies one of the longstanding missions of the gallery – to present art and events that speak to a wider audience and a broader cultural and aesthetic community. Gospel music has seen an unprecedented rise in popularity in recent years and its expression of faith and deliverance has particular resonance today as the country faces the toughest economic challenges in a generation. The artworks in this exhibition, similarly, bring a message of hope, uplift and exuberant joy.

The artists exhibiting are: Alfred Conteh, Alicia McDaniel, April Harrison, Bernard Stanley Hoyes, C'babi Bayoc, Charly Palmer, Cheryl Edwards, Cynthelia Cephas, Dalton Bosley, Darrell Jones, Dawn Williams Boyd, Earl Jackson, Frank Morrison, Francks Deceus, Kevin A. Williams, LaMar Barber, Laura James, Leroy Campbell, Lisa Mathews, Mariah Spann, Max Eternity, Michael Massenburg, Milton Bowens, Najee Dorsey, Patricia Bohannon, Paul Goodnight, Phyllis Stephens, Sherry Shine, Tamara Natalie Madden and Toni Kersey.
