Holiday Booking Trends Change As More People Book Online - Mega.co.uk

Trends have changed as far as booking holidays are concerned with up to half of people now shunning traditional high street agents and instead booking their holidays online through travel sites like mega.co.uk.

As a country we are experiencing a massive slump in high street sales. Huge supermarkets have stolen all of the custom from the small local businesses and it seems that travel agents are suffering the same effect.

ABTA surveyed 2000 people and just under half of these travellers recently booked their hotels, flights etc online. This is bound to further worry the unfortunate owners of high street agents.

With Spain still proving popular even with the recession, a lot of the European destinations that were favoured by Brits have now been left on the back burner and many people are choosing to stay in the UK for their annual holiday.

Russell Beech, Mega.co.uk Deals director quotes "We here at Mega.co.uk were surprised to notice that the customers visiting our website have been increasingly searching for UK based deals. These include searches for budget hotels such as Travelodge and Premier Inn."
"The British, as a culture, usually prefer the personal approach and dealing with businesses on a one to one basis but knowing that money can be saved by using online services makes the move online the more sensible approach at the moment. With the ability to compare prices on one site like Mega this also saves the need to move from agent to agent on the high street".

At the moment the economy shows no sign of improving and so the internet looks like the way forward for a while to come!
