Business Awards Can Be a Distinguishing Feature in a Competitive Market, Says Punch Communications

The current economic climate has increased business competitiveness across many sectors and as a result, winning new business has become harder than ever. Consequently, being able to show competence, sector recognition and success through the winning of a recognised business award can be a distinguishing and often decisive feature in attracting new clients, says public relations Agency Punch Communications.

Although the likes of activities such as search engine optimisation (SEO) campaigns can have a massive impact on the volume of traffic visiting a website, it doesn't necessarily convert the visitors into clients. However, and with companies likely to perform extended research into their options before committing to any additional expenditure, being able to display an award could be the USP needed to gain the new business.

Ben Leuty, account manager at PR company, Punch Communications, commented: "In today's market, businesses need to be able to stand out from their competitors in order to increase their chances of winning new clients. Many are already undertaking SEO, social media as well as traditional and online PR campaigns as they're almost a prerequisite to increasing brand recognition but, it's the additional, almost exceptional, USP's which can often be the critical turning point, and obtaining a business award is a strong USP to have."

There are many types of business awards to be won, from regionalised to generic business to sector specific but all have the potential to add credibility to a business and increase its positive perception to the outside world.

Ben continued: "Not too long ago business awards were often seen as a badge of vanity but I certainly believe this has changed dramatically of late, especially with businesses seeking that little extra that sets them apart from the crowd. When the opportunity arises, we often advise clients to enter awards, write their entry and then with a bit of luck, attend the ceremony."
