Swatch Watches Sponsorship Success at MTV EMAs

Watch brand Swatch is celebrating its successful sponsorship of the recent 2011 MTV European Music Awards.

Swatch watches, available at the UK's largest watch website The Watch Hut, was one of four main event partners at this year's ceremony.

The annual awards show this year took place on 06 November at Belfast's Odyssey Arena, which played host to a number of stars for one of the biggest nights in the music calendar.

Swatch was a prominent presence throughout the evening, beginning with the pre-show red carpet countdown. Performers, nominees and guests all posed for press in front of a backdrop featuring Swatch alongside other sponsors Dell, Hyundai and Replay.

The show itself was dominated by Lady Gaga, who won four awards including 'Best Female' and 'Best Video'. Close behind Gaga were male competitors Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber, who each won two awards each.

Jessie J was also present at the show, performing her hit 'Price Tag' as part of a show-stopping performance that began with her busting out of a safe. The British singer, who is a firm Swatch watches fan after wearing four separate models on her wrist in the video to single 'Who's Laughing Now', also led a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse.

Other winners on the night included Katy Perry, Eminem, Adele and 30 Seconds to Mars. As well as performances from the trio of leading winners (Gaga, Mars and Bieber), live songs came courtesy of Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol and LMFAO. Hostess Selena Gomez also sang at the event.

Swatch's involvement with the awards follows the recent establishment of the Swatch MTV Playground, an interactive component of the brand's website that combines elements such as fashion, art and music to creative effect.
