Cleveland, Ohio — Writer, director Katrina Elias will return to the city of her youth with the Ohio Premiere of “Madam Marina,” a 35 MM short narrative film on Saturday, November 12th at 4:00 P.M. Madam Marina is the short film adaptation of her original one-act play “Red Colombian Sky” produced by the 6th Annual Hispanic Playwright's Festival of Fort Worth in 2004. "The tightest script of the evening was Katrina Elias' Red Colombian Sky … Elias had done a nice job of getting a lot of solid context, passion, and conflict into a short script." Star-Telegram — Dallas, Fort Worth.

The short film stars Eliana Alexander and Miguel Cabarello which opened its World Premiere at the 6th Annual Port Townsend Film Festival in September, 2005. “Katrina’s Madam Marina is highly stylized, sexy and thought provoking … a surreal visit to a unique world.” —Shawna Baca, Filmmaker. The story portrays the seduction of a young Guerrilla soldier by an aging prostitute while they are held hostage in a war-ridden village.

The film embodies a Tennessee Williams sensibility where magic and raw emotion drive the human spirit to ardently seek truth in the face of death. Katrina Elias is best known for writing the award winning comedy stage-play "Abuelo's Legacy," (Grandfather's Legacy) starring Liz Torres (Gilmore Girls) and writing "Bel's Christmas" a Badami Production.

The Elias’ family immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio when she was nine months old from Colombia, South America in the late sixties. For the next decade, they settled into a Cleveland suburb until moving to Youngstown, Ohio. In 1987 her father passed away in Cleveland, considering it his home above the country of his nativity. Katrina Elias is currently a resident of Southern California.

The Ohio Independent Film Festival (OIFF) takes place November 6th-13th at Cleveland Public Theatre 6425 Detroit Road in Cleveland, Ohio.
