EyeLux Optometry Opens in 4S Ranch, Rancho Bernardo

November 10, 2011 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
The newest business in 4S Ranch Village Center, EyeLux Optometry, opened on October 6, 2011. Located by Fresh & Easy, EyeLux Optometry occupies almost 4,000 square feet and merges the eye care practice of Brian Chou, O.D., F.A.A.O., with the practice of Kelvin Nguyen, O.D., and his wife, Jacquelin Le, O.D.

EyeLux Optometry features the largest display of eyewear in the area, with 1,600 pairs of eyeglasses and sunglasses. Irene Martinez, optician at EyeLux Optometry, says, "We want 4S Ranch residents to have the most fashionable eyewear in San Diego. Everyone has individual style, and we can help express that with our selection and distinctive eyewear." The eyewear includes some well-known brands such as Fendi, Christian Dior, Maui Jim and Oakley. EyeLux Optometry also likes to introduce clientele to their exclusive handcrafted pieces and custom eyewear. "We like to teach our clientele about fine eyewear and lens options that will enhance their life style," says Martinez. Today there are a dizzying number of lens options, from digitally-surfacing, antireflective treatment, polarization, photochromics, impact resistance, and new thin and light lens materials. "Our product knowledge saves our clientele time and money by helping them make appropriate selections," says Martinez.

Erick Albretsen, optician at EyeLux Optometry, says, "As a savvy privately-owned business we are able to bring unique high quality European and Asian eyewear to the area without the prices of downtown boutiques. We are setting the stage for the most diverse retail collection of fine eyewear in greater San Diego. We will have something special for everyone."

Complementing the eyewear showcase, EyeLux Optometry provides eye examinations with advanced diagnostic technologies that fully integrate with electronic medical records. "The result of accurate prescriptions is clear and comfortable vision," says Dr. Chou. EyeLux Optometry is the only practice in San Diego that uses both digital imaging of the exterior and interior of the eye as part of the routine examination. "Digital imaging is desirable because it provides our eye doctors with a permanent photographic record to compare against in the future, helping detect subtle changes that may threaten vision," says Dr. Chou. "EyeLux Optometry is also unique because our technology and systems allow our doctors to measure eyeglass prescriptions so accurately that you will see beyond the 20/20 benchmark if your eyes can do it."

EyeLux Optometry will hold their Grand Opening Celebration on Friday, December 2, 2011, from 2pm to 6pm. Residents of 4S Ranch and Del Sur are invited to come enjoy free food, music, and have a chance to win several valuable prizes. All the staff and doctors of EyeLux Optometry, along with representatives from several top eyewear lines, will be on hand. For more information, call (858)487-7900, or visit www.EyeLuxOptometry.com.

About the Owners of EyeLux Optometry

All three eye doctors reside in 92127, allowing them to devote their attention toward EyeLux Optometry. Drs. Nguyen and Le also have two children that attend Stone Ranch Elementary. "As local residents and business owners, we are proud that EyeLux Optometry contributes to the neighborhood fabric," says Dr. Nguyen. Drs. Nguyen and Le have practiced in the Westwood community in Rancho Bernardo since 2006 when they took ownership of a longstanding practice.

Dr. Kelvin Nguyen graduated from New England College of Optometry in 1998. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and completed his undergraduate studies at University of California, Santa Barbara. As a cancer survivor, Dr. Nguyen brings a unique level of caring and perspective to his patients. He started private practice in 1998 in Merced, California, successfully managing and owning two separate offices before moving to San Diego. Dr. Nguyen brings a wealth of business experience to EyeLux Optometry with skill in negotiating with suppliers to bring cost savings on eyewear to the clientele of EyeLux Optometry.

Dr. Jacquelin Le earned her doctorate of optometry from New England College of Optometry in 1996 after completing undergraduate studies at University of Southern California in 1992. A San Diego native, her clinical interests include pediatric vision care, diagnosing and treating ocular disease, contact lens prescribing, and laser vision correction management. Dr. Le has a close understanding of amblyopia, or "lazy eye", because her son required intensive amblyopia therapy to avert permanent weak vision. Dr. Le has provided charitable care to the underprivileged through Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). When living in Merced, she volunteered for three years providing weekly vision screenings to low-income, single mothers.

Dr. Chou has practiced in Rancho Penasquitos since 2000. He earned his doctorate of optometry at UC Berkeley in 1999 and continued on to complete fellowship training in refractive surgery management at Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA School of Medicine. He has authored over 60 manuscripts in the eye care industry including book chapters on keratoconus, cataracts, and laser vision correction, and has lectured nationally on these topics. Dr. Chou received the Nuemueller Award in Optics from the American Academy of Optometry and serves on the editorial review board for Review of Optometry and the editorial board for Review of Cornea & Contact Lenses. Dr. Chou is a clinical investigator and consultant to several ophthalmic companies, and is an expert witness for the California Board of Optometry.
