Australians prefer to take out car, home and health insurance over life and income protection, according to a research report recently conducted by Lifebroker. The study revealed some interesting misconceptions and myths about life insurance & income protection. Some of the results of the survey concluded that:

Australian's worry about burglary as much as death

Only 54% of Australians have life insurance

Cost is the major factor for underinsurance

While some respondents hold life and income insurance within super, between half and two-thirds of these people accepted the default level of insurance which is typically very low
