"The Paper American: Seeking Acceptance in a New Country," a new book by Lina Rudel, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

Lina Rudel grew up in Germany during World War II and its aftermath. Struggling to overcome the violence of her childhood years, and being a member of a dysfunctional family, she left her homeland at age twenty-one for a better existence in the United States. Since she was able to attain her dreams of success, she felt it incumbent upon her to share her childhood memories. She practices law and real estate and lives in the state of California.

This book examines a number of issues. It begins with World War II and how a small child in Germany survived the constant onslaught of enemy bombings for a period of four years — the daily running to the bunkers, accompanied with stress, fright, and nightmares. The War aftermath brought poverty, hunger and the insistent strive for survival. A dysfunctional post-War family life led to the ultimate immigration to the United States. Taking advantage of the never-ending opportunities in the 1960s, the author accomplished her childhood dreams in this country.

The book is inspirational, in that it affords hope, success, ideals, free speech, and the ever present strivings for the ultimate goals. The story accomplishes what the United States stands for and its promises. Although an immigrant's beginnings can experience challenging trials, in the end, as promised, all dreams can be reached with hard work and persistence. Although shaking intermittently, this, a nation of immigrants, will forever succeed.

"The Paper American: Seeking Acceptance in a New Country" is a 156-page paperback with a retail price of $15.95. The ISBN is 978-1-934449-36-3. It was published by Legacy Book Publishing of Winter Park, Florida. For more information visit www.thepaperamerican.biz.
