The Michigan property tax appeals law firm of Randall P. Whately, PLLC is pleased to announce the addition of former Michigan Tax Tribunal Hearing Referee Joshua Shillair.

Joshua brings extensive property tax experience with him as well as valuable insight into Tax Tribunal practice. In 2008, he worked as a law clerk with the Tax Tribunal. During that time he was involved with some of the larger residential development appeals as well as appeals of mall anchor stores, income property, and some industrial and utility properties. He wrote numerous orders and opinions for judges, resolving complex legal and factual issues. From 2009 through November of 2011, Joshua conducted in-person hearings throughout the state as a Hearing Referee.

He has heard appeals from every major city and metro area in Michigan – from Grand Rapids, Lansing, Detroit, Oakland County, Macomb County, Downriver, Ann Arbor, Flint, Jackson, Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and Muskegon – as well as rural communities and small towns, from Traverse City to the thumb to Saugatuck, Grand Haven, and the Lake Michigan shoreline. He has experience with property tax appeals of residential homes, vacant lots, residential income properties, commercial income properties, other commercial properties, industrial income properties, and other industrial properties.

Joshua also has experience in personal property and provides the detailed analysis necessary to successfully reduce personal property tax liability.
