One of the biggest retail showrooms in Victoria is set to open in Shepparton in mid-September. The 260sqm store will be the new home of household goods rental company Radio Rentals, which will upgrade from its 70sqm store on High Street. It will be managed by long-time team Robert Keen and Rebecca Carter, who first met in Rebecca's lounge room 12 years ago.

Sales Representative Rebecca joined Radio Rentals in 1999 when Robert paid a service visit to her mum's house, who was a customer of the company. She asked Robert if Radio Rentals had any jobs going, and the two have worked together as a team from then on in.

Robert says: "We're all really excited about the move; this showroom is one of the biggest in Victoria and it'll be very different to where we are now.

The staff will get to work in a space that's really modern and the extra room will give us a lot more scope to properly show off our products to our customers."

Radio Rentals Shepparton has made a few moves over the years. Initially established on Fryers Street in 1979, the shop then moved to its current location on High Street in 1992. The store is now being upgraded to a lifestyle format which will allow customers to see the products laid out in 'real life' situations, on a shop floor that expands the store by four times.

Rebecca says: "Radio Rentals was my first proper job and it's been great to see the business grow over the years. Being here as long as I have I've built up a really good rapport with my customers which is fantastic, because it makes them feel at ease. I'm really excited about our move; the new store location will be ideal for our customers."

Store Manager Robert joined Radio Rentals' Shepparton branch 17 years ago after completing a radio technician apprenticeship. Robert started as a service technician in Shepparton and later became Network Relief Manager for the whole of Australia, a role which required him to travel across the country to wherever he was needed. Robert took a step back from this role after starting a family in 2003 and has been a familiar face as Shepparton's Radio Rentals Store Manager ever since.

On his 17 year career, he says: "I love the diversity of the people we work with here. Things are always changing and you get real flexibility when you work with a company like this – I've had the opportunity to work in a variety of different roles, it's been a great experience."

The company is also famed for its unique rent-to-buy arrangement, Rent, Try, $1 Buy. Rent, Try, $1 Buy – where customers have the option to make an offer of $1 on a similar product after completing a 36 month contract – has given the company a competitive edge in Shepparton while opening up a raft of new rental options that Victoria residents may not have considered in the past, such as furniture.

Radio Rentals customers can find the new store next door to McDonalds at 272a Maude Street, Shepparton.
