Rock band Chin's Mojo releases "Drowning Man" music video through crowd funding

January 25, 2012 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
Chin's Mojo announces the debut of the music video, "Drowning Man". The production was funded by 70 online contributors, who received the music video in advance of the public release.

Chin's Mojo singer Tom Jordan remarked, "We produced our first music video (a song called Roller coaster) to share our band with people that live outside North Texas and haven't attended a live performance. That video created an amazing response. Initially, we didn't know what to do with the momentum. It can take a long time to fund our own ideas, so we knew that we could lose the surge in interest unless we quickly follow up with something impressive."

Two days after the "Roller coaster" video release, Chin's Mojo launched an online campaign to raise funds for the next music video, "Drowning Man". In October 2011, fans underwrote the purchase of an iMac computer, video editing software and an HD camera with donations. This 30 day online campaign met its funding goal within 22 days and exceeded the band's funding objective.

From conception to filming and finally public debut; the entire "Drowning Man" production was concluded in 127 days. The band purchased an HD camera and a computer for editing; then learned to edit footage that they filmed themselves. This approach will enable Chin's Mojo to produce future music videos at virtually no cost.

Tom concluded, "We are sharing the Drowning Man video on our recording studio blog. Our next step is to expand the blog content; more music from Chin's Mojo and we'll feature other regional bands that we know and enjoy. We are grateful that our fans have accelerated our ability to easily deliver the Drowning Man video independently, without a major record label. When people believe in our songs and directly push Chin's Mojo forward - faster - that a good example of a band that is growing for all the right reasons."
