February 20, 2012: When Thousand Oaks-based yoga teacher Tammy Finnerty heard Robert Rabbin had moved to Los Angeles, she couldn't resist inviting him to speak to her followers. To her surprise, he called the same day she sent an email, and said, "Fantastic. Let's do it."

For many years, renowned self-awareness teacher and author Robert Rabbin has pioneered new pathways in living and speaking with authenticity, truthfulness, and transparency. Through eight books, 200 articles, and his "5 principles of authentic living," Rabbin has inspired and ignited passion within others, instilling in them his core mantra: that inherent greatness of being lies within each person, within the spiritual silence beyond their mind.

He had just set off on what he thought would be a nice 20-year run of teaching the material of his eighth book, The 5 Principles of Authentic Living: How to Live an Authentic Life in 10 Words.

But that was before he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on January 6, 2012. His personal belief system was put to the ultimate test. In such circumstances, one can collapse and contract or expand and elevate – and Rabbin has chosen the latter. Rabbin sees his disease as a "temporary visitor," not a permanent state of being, and the catalyst for him to find true greatness within himself, beyond what conventional thought allows as possible. His diagnosis is not reality; rather, he sees his response as what creates reality. This is the access point of true authenticity: one's inherent capacity to generate one's own reality.

Rabbin is using this most recent of life's surprises to fuel an even deeper dive into authenticity. He continues to offer his flagship program, Authenticity Accelerator, in which he shares the 5 Principles of Authentic Living, as he will do at Tammy Finnerty's Neighborhood Yoga studio in Thousand Oaks. Robert begins each program by briefly describing The 5 Principles of Authentic Living, The agenda is generated by participants' questions. These unscripted, interactive, spirited conversations showcase the simplicity and power of the five principles to inspire and energize people to create their own authentic life.

His cancer diagnosis has served to make authentic living - getting real and doing it now - more urgent than ever.
