Members of an Estonian gang who had been flying around Europe on budget airlines have finally been grounded.

The gang of eight have been on the run for eight years and the sentencing of Janno Heinola finally brings to an end an eight year police hunt of the eight men who had been flying around Europe to a number of different countries and robbing jewellery stores.

Amazingly the men only raided 11 shops in countries including Monte Carlo, Sweden and the UK. However they made over £150million from 150 heists at the 11 stores. This ultimately led to the downfall of the gang when they targeted Berry's jewellers in Leeds four times between 2005 and 2007.

It is believed that the gang managed to coup £2m from the raids they carried out in the UK and from the last raid at Berry's it is believed that they got away with over £370,000.

The gang had gradually been brought in to Britain over a number of months from 2009 and between them have been jailed for a total of 82 years. The final member was caught after his DNA was found on a cigarette which was left on the floor where he was sat before one of the raids was carried out.

In February he was found in Düsseldorf and was extradited back to the UK by Yorkshire police after he had served a sentence in a jail for a crime he committed in that country.

More and more people are visiting jewellery stores on the high street less anymore as people go online to buy their jewellery. If you're looking to buy some new jewellery then you should pay a visit to one of a number of different online jewellery stores such as The Beautiful Company.
