This year Michigan literally gets a boom to its economy. A new fireworks law legalizes consumer fireworks in Michigan for the first time since the 1930s.

The Michigan Act 256 of 2011, better known as Michigan Fireworks Safety Act, took effect on January 1, 2012. The Michigan Fireworks Safety Act regulates the sale, use and possession of consumer fireworks. Specifically, it legalizes the use and possession of federally labeled 1.4g consumer fireworks including, bottle rockets, aerials and firecrackers.

Michigan residents no longer need to travel to Indiana or Ohio to get fireworks for sale. In addition to legalizing consumer fireworks, the new law created a fund for firefighter training and enforcement. Other benefits of the new law include increased employment for Michigan residents, increased investment in Michigan business and an overall boost to Michigan's economy.

"As the only Michigan-based consumer fireworks distributor, I am really excited about the opportunity this new law creates," said Eric Stajos, President of Operations at Big Fireworks. "Michigan will see job and revenue increases along with much needed and deserved funds for firefighters across Michigan."

Big Fireworks has over 30 retail locations in Michigan with many retail locations open around year-round.

Big Fireworks has sold fireworks to wholesalers and distributors for over 30 years. They specialize in carrying the highest quality consumer fireworks. With the new law allowing 1.4g consumer fireworks, Big Fireworks is the foremost source for wholesale fireworks and retail fireworks in the state of Michigan. The Lansing warehouse will soon be open for retail sales.
