With less than 80 days till the London Olympics, concerns have been raised about the fitness legacy that was one of the main tenets of the Olympic bid. Experts, including former Olympian Professor Greg Whyte , have expressed dismay that few steps have been taken to create a legacy that supports and encourages 'increased physical activity'. However, a new website, the National Fitness Directory, is hoping to assist in meeting that aim by linking individuals with local personal trainers and creating a nationwide forum to discuss fitness issues.

The National Fitness Directory website (www.nationalfitnessdirectory.com ) is the UK's first fully comprehensive directory of personal trainers across the country. This new, easily navigable site was established as a solution to those looking for comprehensive, accessible information to find a personal trainer in their area.

Co-founder, Katie Knight explains: "Like many people, the team behind the National Fitness Directory had to make a decision to get themselves in shape. Making that decision is the first step to a healthier lifestyle, but the next step - actually doing something about it - isn't always so simple.

"When it comes to finding good personal trainers, we quickly realised that besides word of mouth there was nowhere else to turn - until now. We've created the UK's first national and comprehensive directory of personal trainers all gathered in one site and accessible with just a couple of clicks."

As well as offering a comprehensive and easily searchable list of trainers, the website has information on the latest health and fitness events. There's an interactive forum where users and visitors can ask for expert advice from fitness professionals too.

Katie continues: "Whether you're looking for a new trainer to whip you into shape, want some tips on how to enhance your current training programme, or would simply like to read up on the latest health and fitness trends, and sporting events in your area, www.nationalfitnessdirectory.com is your one-stop shop.

"The team behind the site are passionate about fitness and we want to support Britain in building a sustainable legacy from the Olympics. We know our site can help individuals to find the right fitness regime for them and that our community can help them to sustain it. That would be the perfect long-term result. Once the Olympics have moved on, the National Fitness Directory website will still be here offering help and support to everyone who wants to improve their fitness and activity levels."
