The Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF) returns for 2012 on Friday June 1st, with 104 movies from 29 countries due to be screened in the New York borough.

Running until Sunday June 10th at indieScreen and Brooklyn Heights Cinema, the event boasts a diverse line-up of independent films that were hand-picked from more than 2,000 submissions.

'Decoy' has been named as the theme of this year's BFF, with the opening screenings due to take place at Brooklyn Heights Cinema from 20:00 local time on June 1st.

The festival's executive director Marco Ursino explained: "Decoy is a study on symbolism and metaphors. It is also our personal invitation to read between the lines while questioning the motives behind."

Polish wartime drama Rose and high school chess documentary Brooklyn Castle have been selected to open to festival.

Other films due to be shown over the ten days include Turkish feature Labryinth and Polish animation George the Hedgehog.

Opening night tickets are available for $30 (£19). For this price, film fans can enjoy one of the two screenings and the following party.

Festival passes, which provide admission to all screenings and events, are priced at $150.

Movie lovers planning to stay in New York accommodation will find a wide variety of hotels at LateRooms.com, which recommends the InterContinental New York.
