BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Armstrong Relocation, a Birmingham-based agent of United Van Lines, reached out during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to help those in need.

Just days after evacuating and leaving behind his home in New Orleans, David Stevens (an employee of Paulk’s Moving & Storage, Inc. in New Orleans) found himself at Armstrong Relocation’s doorstep in Birmingham looking for immediate work. Armstrong Relocation welcomed him as an employee and embraced his trying circumstances by collecting more than $1,000, which was matched by the company. The Armstrong team also provided him with clothes and other necessities.

Not only did Armstrong respond quickly to David Stevens' situation but within 24 hours of Hurricane Katrina, 12 truck loads of ice, food, water and cots were driven down and distributed to the hurricane victims in Mobile, Ala.; Hattiesburg, Gulfport, Pearl, and Jackson Miss.; and Baton Rouge, La.

The disaster recovery team was on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the first week of the tragic disaster. After returning from seeing the horrific destruction of the coastline many were touched and grateful they could assist. Armstrong Relocation hopes to reach out more in the future in times of crucial crisis
