San Diego, Calif., October 10, 2012 – Ceatus Media Group's flagship portal Consumer Guide to Plastic Surgery is unveiling an all-new section devoted to male plastic surgery.

The section, which includes gender-specific articles on all of the cosmetic surgery procedures popular among men, was created to keep pace with the uptick in male plastic surgery. Due largely to the economic downturn, growing numbers of men are turning to cosmetic surgery to remain competitive in today's job market, where they are often pitted against much younger men.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), nearly 800,000 cosmetic procedures for men were performed in 2011, with liposuction, rhinoplasty, and eyelid surgery ranking as the top three.

"Middle-aged and older men have come to realize that looking young and refreshed is important for both their social and work lives," says Indianapolis plastic surgeon Barry Eppley, MD, DMD, who reviewed some of the content in the new section. "At the same time, younger men are seeking enhancements to look more masculine and physically fit. As a group, more men are undergoing plastic surgery than ever before," he says.

All articles in the new male cosmetic surgery section of Consumer Guide to Plastic Surgery fill an unmet need on the Internet for men seeking cosmetic surgery, according to the portal's Editorial Director, Denise Mann. "After a thorough review, we found that there were a lot of articles documenting the increase, but very few which provided detail on how these procedures differ among men compared to women in terms of risks, recovery, results, cost and surgical techniques."

For example, men are at greater risk for bleeding and other complications after surgery due to the thickness of their skin, but steps can be taken to minimize this. "This is the type of information we provide in our male plastic surgery section," says Mann.

The new section includes easy-to-understand, expert-reviewed articles on:

  • Male liposuction
  • Male nose surgery (rhinoplasty)
  • Male eyelid surgery
  • Male facelift
  • Male tummy tuck surgery
  • Abdominal etching
  • Calf, bicep, tricep and pectoral implants
  • Male breast reduction surgery
