Russel Toyota to Present 4K for Cancer with New Toyota Highlander

(PRLEAP.COM) BALTIMORE, Md., Oct. 11, 2012 — Non-profit groups all over America are receiving new vehicles through Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program, including Baltimore's own 4K for Cancer. The cancer awareness and support organization was named a winner this past June, and it will be presented with a new Toyota Highlander SUV at Russel Toyota in Baltimore on Monday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.

Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program gives away 100 cars to non-profit organizations based on voting from fans on Facebook. Every day from May 14 through Aug. 21, online voters took their pick from five finalist charities, with each day's winner slated to receive a brand-new Toyota to aid their cause.

"We're honored to be the dealership chosen to present 4K for Cancer with their new Highlander; the vehicle couldn't be going to a better organization," said Wade Sterry, general manager of Russel Toyota, a Baltimore, Maryland Toyota dealer. "This group is dedicated to impacting the lives of cancer patients and survivors in communities across the country, a cause that is near and dear to our hearts."

The 4K for Cancer is a program within the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults that enhances lives by supporting, connecting and educating young adults and their loved ones affected by cancer. The group features an annual bike ride across America to raise funds and awareness, collecting nearly $500,000 in 2012.

During the summer, 4K for Cancer will use its new Highlander to transport select riders on visits with cancer patients. Past projects include cooking dinners for patients undergoing treatment, washing wigs for those in chemotherapy and assisting at cancer camps for children. The rest of the year, the Toyota SUV will shuttle prospective riders to community service events in the Maryland area.

With its spacious interior and durable build, the 2013 Toyota Highlander is particularly well suited for duty with 4K for Cancer. Inside, there is room for seven passengers across three rows, as well as 10.3 cubic feet of cargo space for their belongings. Folding the third row flat opens up 42.3 cubic feet of space, while putting down the second row swells cargo room to 95.4 cubic feet. That versatility will allow 4K for Cancer to carry out a wide range of projects with the same vehicle.

"The Toyota Highlander has a reputation for reliability and flexibility that has made it a favorite with families on the move, and we're sure it will serve 4K for Cancer well for many years to come," added Sterry. "When you're trying to support those in need, your vehicle should be the least of your worries. The Highlander will let volunteers instead focus on the task at hand."

Beyond the upcoming Toyota Highlander presentation, the fight against cancer is a cause near and dear to the team at Russel Toyota; on June 3, the dealership hosted the second annual Cole & Dylan's Gift Cancer Benefit and raised more than $110,000 for the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology Unit. Cole Sterry, a cancer survivor and son of Russel Toyota General Manager Wade Sterry, will be in attendance at the presentation to show his support for the efforts of Toyota and 4K for Cancer.
