World Nomads, in partnership with National Geographic Channel are offering a budding photographer a once in a lifetime chance to go on assignment with renowned National Geographic on-assignment wildlife photographer Jason Edwards, to Oman, as part of the 2012 Travel Photography Scholarship.

The winner will experience an 8-day trip courtesy of Peregrine Adventures and Oman Tourism. They'll explore the stunning landscapes of Oman from the historic mosques of Muscat, to remote canyon villages and rugged desert terrain by 4WD. On assignment, they will have the opportunity to learn the ropes from a globally renowned Nat Geo photographer and find out why Oman is both the Arabia of Aladdin's dreams and a modern society.

"We're extremely proud to be working with National Geographic Channel, Peregrine Adventures, Oman Tourism, Etihad Airways and Canon to allow a budding photographer to gain invaluable experience alongside award-winning photographer Jason Edwards. This is truly a once in a lifetime chance to help them turn their travel passion, into a profession," says World Nomads General Manager, Chris Noble.

Online applications will be received through to January 14, 2013. For application details please visit the WorldNomads.com website.

The successful candidate will be flown from the country of residence to Muscat where they will meet their mentor, Jason Edwards and begin their assignment in Oman with Peregrine Adventures. They will also receive an advanced photographer's kit courtesy of Canon Australia (which includes a Canon EOS 6D, 2 lenses, Pixma Pro100 printer and enrolment into the Canon Academy).

"As the leader in small group travel, Peregrine understands that a picture is worth a thousand words", said Managing Director, Glenyce Johnson. "So the winner will get to hone their craft by visiting the historic city of Muscat to the fishing village of Seeb, the forts of Nakhal and Al Hazm, the Shams Mountains, desert camps in Wadi Bani Khaled and the beautiful Wahiba Sands."

The scholarship recipient will gain invaluable mentoring and hands-on experience in everything from shot set up, technique and composition to insights into Edwards' many years of diverse experience as an award-winning photographer. This is a rare experience into what it's like to be a photographer on assignment with National Geographic.
