SBL and CESG host the IA Practitioners' Event

For the third year running CESG and SBL are hosting the IA Practitioners' Event on 6th and 7th March, 2013 at York Racecourse. The event will incorporate the Police Information Assurance Forum (PIAF) bringing in IA Specialists from police forces throughout the UK plus the IT Security Officers' Forum (ITSOF) for central Government and the wider Public Sector.

The two days comprise plenary sessions, workshops and a networking dinner and provide an opportunity for vendors and delegates across the public and private sectors to meet once a year to share their insights and experiences.

The IA Practitioners' events are chaired by Dr Ian Levy, Technical Director at CESG, and they have proved to be a great success amongst delegates and vendors within the IA industry. The PIAF and ITSOF were a new addition to the event last year and these sessions allowed attendees to discuss certain issues and concerns of their own in a 'closed environment'.

The 2013 event will focus upon

  • What the GPMS Review Means for IA
  • Certifying IA Professionals: making the transition to business as usual
  • Implementing the '10 Steps to Cyber Security' Guidance
  • ITSOF and PIAF Closed Sessions
  • Government ICT Reform
  • Cyber Incident Response
  • The Cyber Growth Partnership
  • Securing Government Services Online

  • Speakers will be drawn from CESG, OCSIA, BIS, MoD and other Government organisations, there will also be a number of vendors presenting both in plenary and workshop sessions.

A representative from SBL stated "Many of our delegates and partners see this as one of the key events in the IA calendar. As well as receiving updates on important IA and Policy developments, they appreciate the opportunity to network with colleagues from outside their own sector and see how their peers are addressing common IA challenges."

SBL are involved in a number of IT Security events and we have our own dedicated Events Management Team who organise all our events and exhibitions as well as seminar programmes for customers.

CESG are leaders in Information Assurance and are the UK Government's National Technical Authority for IA. It is their responsibility to provide advice on secure and trusted information sharing to help customers within the public sector. SBL support CESG to encourage vendors to interact with them to gain knowledge and provide safe new technologies. The IA Practitioners' Event is a key event in the CESG calendar and provides a unique opportunity to disseminate key messages and engage in serious dialogue at a practitioner level.
