Sindelar Dental Offers Free Screenings to Determine Whether Sinus Problems are Related to Oral Health

February 12, 2013 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
St. Louis, MO - Dr. Dan Sindelar, current president of the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health, announces free screenings for anyone suffering sinus-related problems like chronic sinus infections. Patients simply fill out a quick questionnaire, and Dr. Sindelar can determine if there is a possibility that the patient's sinus issues are actually related to oral health problems. Treatment options can then be explored if oral problems are a potential cause.

"Inflammatory diseases like sinusitis and other sinus-related problems may have roots in the mouth, as there is only 1/8 inch of tissue between the teeth and the sinuses," says Dr. Sindelar. "I encourage anyone with sinus issues to call us for a free screening to see if treatments to improve oral health can help."

Because the sinuses are located closely to the teeth, inflammation, pain and infections in one may affect the other. Sometimes it's even difficult for patients to tell where pain is coming from because the symptoms of one closely mimic another. Any type of swelling or inflammation may develop into a sinus infection, so chronic issues of the sinuses may be caused by an oral-health issue.
