New Online Movie Shows Landscape Painting by Asterio Pascolini from Sketch to Final Brushstroke

This one-and-a-half minute QuickTime movie illustrates the creation of Asterio Pascolini's watercolor painting “Colle vicino Siena” (Hilltop near Siena) from initial sketch to final painting. Pascolini “painted for nine days (and nights) and took photos every day.” He used his sketch for the opening title scene and twenty four images of the painting at different stages of completion for the show.

Born in Italy, Asterio Pascolini moved to the United States in 1958 to begin a long and prolific career with Hallmark Cards as a popular designer and illustrator. Now retired, Pascolini's creative work continues to grow and evolve, his approach to art being a lifelong process of experimentation and discovery. Asterio's scenes and studies are inspired by his extensive travels in the United States as well as England, France and his beloved Tuscany.

The final credit page of the movie contains a link to the Rendezvous Gallery web site where the viewer can see a collection of Asterio Pascolini’s latest Italian watercolor landscape paintings.

Upon viewing this movie, Ed Bryant of Wilton, Connecticut said jokingly, “I didn’t know painting was so easy!” Karen Burton, owner of Rendezvous Gallery, says, “This movie is amazing.
