March 18, 2013 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Wireless Industry Association sets up website to offer radio communications know-how to Neighborhood Watch community safety programs to increase communication between members. Neighborhood Watch Radio, a non-profit public service and neighborhood safety organization, initiated and promoted by the Wireless Industry Association, establishes organized awareness and communications in the neighborhood through the use of inexpensive two-way radio equipment.

Association president Bob Hutchinson, says, "With city, county and state public safety and police budgets being slashed, and even eliminated in some cases, neighbors, neighborhoods, and communities are faced with establishing awareness and neighborhood safety systems for their own protection."

Neighborhood Watch Radio's web, http://neighborhoodwatchradio.org, provides "How To" information to quickly initiate and operate a Neighborhood Watch Radio group with the help of dedicated volunteers, coordinators, and group members. Groups start right away with ZIP code search and by joining an existing group or creating a group by entering their digit ZIP + 4 code and neighborhood name.

Although Neighborhood Watch Radio doesn't sell anything, Wireless Industry Association's president Hutchinson states, "The GMRS and UHF two-way radios are among the most available consumer electronics products today. Wireless industry retailers, community interest groups, Hams and Ham Radio Club volunteers, and vendors also live in neighborhoods and are ready to help set up groups.

Neighborhood Watch Radio is a "Public Service for the Public Good" project. Request for Grant and Donation documents and pages are available.
