LOS ANGELES, CA, April 3, 2013 -Safe4Athletes is hosting it's 1st Annual Texas Hold'em and Casino night fundraiser April 25, 2013 at the home of Richard Riordan (former Mayor of Los Angeles) to raise funds to support the work of the organization and increase awareness about the organization's mission to advocate for athlete welfare to ensure that every athlete experiences a safe and positive environment free of sexual abuse, bullying and harassment.

Make a difference for young athletes and continue the positive legacy of your own participation and success by supporting the sports program that empowers every athlete to demand a safe and positive experience.

Today 60 Million youth sports athletes in the USA lack a uniform standard for acceptable treatment. Without clearly stated expectations of respectful behavior for coaches and teammates and procedures for enforcement, athletes may feel, often correctly, that they have little recourse against abusive behavior.

It is our mission to help our athletes past, present and future.
  • We help athletes who have suffered abuse at the hands of coaches or teammates heal their deep trauma through a variety of long and short-term treatments.
  • We help today's athletes with our Safe4Athletes Policies and Procedures program which is designed to provide a safe and positive environment for every athlete.
  • We work to help future athletes also protected through new state and federal laws that make Safe4Athletes policies required, not optional, and easier to enforce.

  • "For too many years, male and female athletes, who have been physically, emotionally and sexually abused by their coaches, have had no champions to address their cause. Yet, every parent wants his or her child to have a safe and rewarding sport experience. Most sport organizations have closed their eyes to this issue and, often, defend their coach members. Now there is an independent group committed to changing this paradigm," said Katherine Starr (Founder / President).

Come help us with our mission and celebrate the night joined by athletes and celebrities and spend an evening of food, fun, wine bar, casino fun and a silent auction.

Athletes and Celebrities to attend will include Katie Hnida (First female football player to score points in a division 1 NCAA game) Cathy Marino (Kayak and President of So Cal Olympians), Joan Van Blom -(Olympic Silver Medal Rowing), Sue Heon Preston (Olympian, Swimming) Karen Kheen (Rowing), Cliff Meidl (USA Flag-bearer in 2000, Kayaking), Kim Vandenburg (USA Olympian Bronze Medal, Swimming),Kelly Rulon (Olympic Gold Medalist 2012, Water polo) Tracy Evans (Olympian Freestyle Skier and Founder of Kids Play International) Estella Warren (Canadian National Champion, Synchronized Swimming; Actress, Planet of The Apes and The Cooler and Victoria Secret Model) and Oscar Winner Louis Gossett Jr., as well as many other prominent local athletes and celebrities.
