Experts Review Disruptive Healthcare Regulations, HIT as Catalysts to Innovation at Scripps San Diego April 17th

A group of experts will participate in a comprehensive discussion on the current and future state of health care reform and innovation on Wednesday, April 17th at the Scripps Schaetzel Center starting at 8:00 am. The companies represented include Qualcomm Life, the San Diego Beacon eHealth Community Information Exchange, Scripps Health, Konica Minolta Business Solutions, and No World Borders Healthcare Consulting.

The experts include:

  • Dr. John Kenagy MD, MPA, ScD, FACS, visiting scholar at Harvard Business School, Author of "Designed to Adapt: Leading Healthcare in Challenging Times" will discuss the Old Story and the New Story in Healthcare regarding data, continuous learning and innovation.
  • Michael Arrigo, Managing Partner at No World Borders, and a recent expert for a Federal Trade Commission case regarding Health IT will present "The Perfect Storm in Healthcare - How will disruptive regulations & technologies create opportunity for healthcare companies and investors?"
  • Rick Valencia, Qualcomm Life Vice President & General Manager, "mHealth – Can you heal me now?" - How mobile can help heal the healthcare industry and patients.
  • Virginia K. Sullivan PMP & MSSM - Scripps Health Program Director, ICD-10; will provide an overview of Scripps approach to implementing the HIPAA mandate based on the World Health Organization International Classification of Diseases, version 10.
  • Dan Chavez, San Diego Beacon HIE Executive Director, San Diego Beacon Health Information Exchange; will present An Overview of San Diego Beacon HIE - History, Opportunity, and Future.

  • The group will explore the impact of these historic changes in healthcare and their impact on business and the strategies for navigating the changes as they apply to San Diego's unique market.

    Who Should Attend

    The event is being organized exclusively for health care executives with medical device, pharmaceutical, hospital, clinic, and health plans as well as legal, regulatory compliance, public and private company investors in healthcare IT and life sciences.

    The event will be held at the Scripps Schaetzel Center located at 9888 Genesee Avenue in La Jolla. At 7:45 a.m. registration, 8:00 a.m. breakfast, and 8:15 a.m. to 11:15am presentations and Q&A.
