New App Makes It Easy To Remember To Take Medications

April 16, 2013 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
Nearly one-half of all American adults take at least one prescription medication. Not adhering to medication routine costs Americans an estimated $290 billion a year, according to New England Healthcare Institute study and not taking medications on time or as prescribed can lead to poorer health or emergency room visits, cites a recent study from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

But a new application for smart phones, MedMory, offers a simple way to remember to take medications. In doing so, MedMory has the potential to reduce health risks and save money by prompting users to take medications on time and correctly.

With MedMory, users can customize their medication routine using a number of pill settings, set individual alert tones for specific medications, create a unique time user interface (UI), automate sound and/or visual alerts and display images of the pills in order to prevent taking the wrong medications at the wrong time.

The app also features a pill counter as well as a reminder to order refills. MedMory is password-secure and allows the user to document notes on side effects and medication experience. Such information can be communicated to the user's medical provider via secure email or during a routine office visit.

MedMory is available for download on the Apple App Store. To learn more visit: www.MedMoryApp.com.
