AllTrust Networks and Fiserv Announce Integration of Retail Connect Point of Sale Platform and CheckFreePay Walk-In Bill Payment Service

April 18, 2013 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
AllTrust Networks and Fiserv, Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV) today announced the integration of the CheckFreePay® walk-in bill payment service from Fiserv into the AllTrust Retail Connect financial services point-of-sale (POS) platform. Retailers that offer these services can now process bill payments via CheckFreePay and cash checks via AllTrust through a single Retail Connect terminal.

AllTrust has a nationwide retail agent base ranging from traditional check cashing stores and independent retailers to grocery stores and banks. The AllTrust Retail Connect platform supports money services such as check cashing, bill payment, money orders, prepaid cards and remittances.

With the integration of CheckFreePay into the Retail Connect POS platform, retail agents can expand their service offerings by accepting payments for thousands of bills, such as utility, mobile phone and credit cards, while streamlining their crowded customer service counters. The Retail Connect POS platform also offers additional back-end capabilities, such as corporate monitoring of store-level activity, easy reconciliation for multiple services, and enhanced vault capabilities.

AllTrust CEO Jon Dorsey said, "Many of our existing customers already offer bill payment options to their customers via CheckFreePay. They are excited about the platform integration because it has the potential to streamline and simplify their operations."

According to the 2011 FDIC National Survey of Unbanked and Underbanked Households, the number of U.S. households that are unbanked or underbanked increased by roughly 18 percent between 2009 and 2011. Of those, four in 10 households had used alternative financial services in the past 30 days. Retail agents providing alternative financial services such as walk-in bill payment and check cashing are looking for ways to meet this demand and enhance their service offerings.

Sean Dingwall, vice president, CheckFreePay, Fiserv, said, "Fiserv and AllTrust have many agents in common, so the integration of Retail Connect and CheckFreePay was a natural fit. Additionally, the integration gives Fiserv the opportunity to grow the CheckFreePay agent network by adding new retailers that are interested in offering more financial services without adding excess equipment at the point-of-sale."

CheckFreePay from Fiserv is a leader in the walk-in bill payment market, enabling customers to pay bills from more than 3,000 companies at nearly 25,000 retail locations nationwide. CheckFreePay agents include supermarkets, drugstores and convenience stores, along with hundreds of independent and chain store retailers.
