Configurable Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) Equipment Gives Manufacturers the Solution They Need

December 06, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Less than six months after reaction injection molding equipment suppliers Gusmer and LCC/Decker announced its merger into Gusmer | Decker, the company is announcing the release of a new series of high or low pressure metering and mixing equipment that combines the best technologies from both groups. The RimCell Select is based on a standard platform, yet is highly configurable with proven, patented technologies and state of the art controls in an affordable package to provide manufacturers with a RIM equipment solution that will fit their specific needs.

With over 40 years of combined technology, Gusmer | Decker has leveraged its experience in reaction injection molding to redesign the RimCell Select Series from the ground up, starting with a standard platform utilized as the foundation of both high or low pressure metering equipment. On top of this platform, Gusmer | Decker provides a host of RIM molding option modules, cutting edge component technologies (i.e. MixHeads, pumps, flow meters, PLC controllers), and additional optional features.

At the heart of the RimCell Select Series is a programmable logic control system that can be controlled via Touch Screen with full color graphics and an intuitive user interface for easy machine control. Digital readouts include pressure, temperature, output and ratio, raw material tank monitoring, alarm screens, and many others.

Because most components and option modules are available in standard, pre-configured machine assemblies, RIM molding systems can be delivered in less than half the time of typical, highly accessorized machines.

“Our goal was to leverage the best reaction injection molding technology from both companies and design a metering machine that utilized common components across the various flow rate ranges,” say Bob Biondich, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Gusmer-Decker RIM Equipment Group. “The unique concept, however, takes this common machine platform a step further and integrates these components across the board to both a high pressure, impingement mixing machine and a low pressure, mechanical mixing version.”
