Goal Setting Tips for Holiday Cheer
(
PRLEAP.COM) As we enter the New Year, tensions often run high. Instead of people feeling joy and happily spending time with friends and family, many feel increased stress and some even find themselves working right through the holiday celebrations and miss everything for which they are working. What is it about the holiday season that leads to such stress and chaos? People who are normally driven by values, and know how to manage their time, throw all they know about
time management out the window when the winter holidays arrive. For so many, the holiday season becomes an endless series of stress outbursts, incomplete important tasks, and stressful events brought on by constant reactions to everything around them.
"If I could provide one
time management tip that would be most universally beneficial, it would be to set and keep in mind your primary goals for your holidays. For some it is to have a holiday with as many friend and family members as possible. For some it may be about cooking a special meal as a gift of your time for others. Whatever it is, focus on the goal and then take action towards it. When roadblocks come along, recognize them and steer around them. This alone can reduce more holiday stress than many can imagine." says
motivational speaker Dave Saunders.
"The definition of time management is really one of self-management. The holiday season should be about being thankful for what we have and sharing that with those around us. These are internal things which we have control over. The decision to have a great holiday is ours."
"By using what know about time management and the importance of setting and achieving a goal, we can keep focused on the important things in our lives. If you want a great family meal, make that the goal and focus on the steps needed to achieve it. Make an accounting of what needs to be done, ask for help and participation and then let go and allow others to do their part."
"Going into the holiday season knowing that some people feel more stress than others, can help us be more empathic and sympathetic towards others. When we are able to be more understanding towards others, stress is reduced and we can communicate more openly and not be offended by an inconsiderate statement from another, or a burnt pie. "
In his winter
time management class, Dave Saunders will cover tips to help create focus for a wonderful holiday season while balancing it with other important goals and events.
