Wesam Keesh finds balance in being "Awkward"

Actor and writer, Wesam Keesh, (quiche) pronounced like the food, who plays Kyle began his awkward stint as a one-time guest early on in Season 1. His character was brought on for the purpose of stalking the rumored suicidal high school student, Jenna Hamilton, played by star Ashley Richards. Each season after, the Kyle role grew more significantly, culminating into a recurring presence in seasons 2 and 3. Wesam stated publically that the show is a bright spot on MTV's schedule, while his character, Kyle has become more established and recognized to internet users asking "what is the name of that guy that wears the Jenna Lives t-shirt?"

The producers of Awkward have been superb and welcoming to Wesam as they have invited Keesh to join Awkward's social media efforts, including an Awkward webisode, and a group outing to a local convalescent home to teach senior citizens how to email and use computers. Keesh walked with the cast during a West Hollywood AIDS Walk, and because of his MTV exposure he is invited to speak on social causes near and dear to him.

This Summer Keesh is shooting "Hyperion," a short film that explores the deteriorating romantic relationship between two people that is brought on by illness. The story follows the life of a young man and his attempt to make his lover's last wish come true before she dies. The attention grabbing subject aims to highlight people living with the inherited and chronic disease known as Cystic Fibrosis.

Wesam Keesh has partnered with friend and filmmaker, Boman Modine, (Director), son of (Matthew Modine) as a creative force and the two men are getting "Hyperion" off the ground with a lot of support. Keesh's personal interest in the story is allowing the "actor" an opportunity to expand his interest in producing as well as acting. "We are looking to get the Oklahoma Cystic Fibrosis chapter involved," and, I am blown away by the number of amazing people that have become attached to this story," says Keesh. Wesam Keesh is a Tulsa, Oklahoma native. Currently 30,000 Americans live with Cystic Fibrosis and about 70,000 are affected worldwide.

Wesam Keesh's other projects include "Santiago," an independent Film that has recently garnered distribution, "Silk," an AFI short directed by Catherine Dent (The Shield, the Mentalist), addressing child brides around the world, and a recent live, anti-bullying project called Stand for the Silent. Other TV projects featuring Wesam Keesh are "NCIS," "Touch," and "The Mentalist."
