Interior Design Associated (IDeA) Employee Receives Certification
Michele Graner Awarded the National Council for Interior Design Qualification

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Dawn A. Gum, Managing Partner of Interior Design Associated, PLLC (IDeA), has announced that Michele Graner has passed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam. As Practice Director at IDeA, Graner coordinates scheduling and staffing of current and future projects. She manages client relations, the development of fee proposals and project budgets, and assists with specification writing.

The core purpose of NCIDQ is to protect the health, life safety and welfare of the public by establishing standards of competence in the practice of interior design. The exam is based on a survey that NCIDQ conducts every five years. NCIDQ engages the services of an independent organization to survey practitioners to determine the knowledge, methodology and skills needed to practice interior design. At this time North Carolina does not require registration to practice interior design, while some other states do. Currently, there are 23 U.S. jurisdictions with interior design regulations, according to the NCIDQ.

“We encourage all of our designers to take the NCIDQ exam and we are pleased to see Michele achieve this important goal,” said Gum, who is a registered architect. “The NCIDQ registration promotes professionalism in interior design.”
