SAN FRANCISCO - Alan Goldfarb has joined Appellation America as its Regional Correspondent for the Napa Valley and the region’s fourteen sub-appellations. Mr. Goldfarb contributes regularly to a host of national wine publications and covers the wine industry beat in the heart of the Napa Valley as wine editor at the St. Helena Star.

Appellation America’s mission is to explore, discover and catalogue the meaningful geographical identity of North America’s diverse winegrowing regions. AppellationAmerica.com is a dynamic portal into more than 200 encyclopedic online magazines separately covering each and every designated appellation in the US and Canada.

While the Napa Valley is already America’s most recognized winegrowing appellation, Goldfarb isn’t satisfied. “We have a long way to go to make the Napa Valley sub-appellations fully appreciated in terms of the impact of terroir on our best wines,” says the writer. “I’m excited to be on board with this project because Appellation America is systematically moving the notion of appellation from the political and marketing realm to terroir mapping, which is what appellations should be all about.”

Napa Valley wineries and industry organizations are encouraged to cooperate with Mr. Goldfarb in identifying and promoting the distinct character of each of the Napa Valley sub-appellations. To submit wines for review, news items, events notices, or to participate in the Appellation Discovery tasting program, contact Alan Goldfarb (a.goldfarb@appellationamerica.com).
