Sagitec Sets Industry Speed Record using .NET 2.0

December 04, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Sagitec, a technology solutions company announced today that the first two increments of the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System’s KITS (KPERS Integrated Technology System) project were successfully implemented. In two recent presentations, John Oliver, KPERS CIO, reported “in eight months we implemented two high quality, feature-rich increments - and achieved a very transparent production rollout.” According to Rick Deshler, Sagitec Senior Partner, “Sagitec and KPERS implemented a rich set of functionality and features that are noticeably improving business process performance, and set an industry speed record in the process.”

Sagitec partnered with KPERS to gradually replace an existing iSeries pension administration system with a services-oriented, browser-based solution. Because the new solution is being released into production in four phases, seamless legacy integration is essential during the course of the project. “Our .NET solution framework (Neospin™) allows us exceptional flexibility for quickly implementing business solutions that unlock, integrate and extend legacy assets. We consider legacy integration a critical success factor during the transition between the old and new systems. It allows us to reduce risk using incremental delivery while providing fast customer benefits and return on investment for our clients. More importantly, Neospin™ is a framework for business transformation. It features best practices that allow our clients not only to share information with their customers, but also to work with them in entirely new ways,” continued Deshler.

The first two increments of KITS were deployed into production just seven days after Microsoft formally released .NET 2.0 into the market. “Our key market differentiator is our ability to adapt to Microsoft releases quickly and efficiently,” said Deepak Ahuja, Sagitec’s Chief Technical Architect. “Adaptation for us means exploiting powerful and salient features of Microsoft technology such as reflection, generics, master pages and new controls that add value to our solution and clients. We don’t do this so that we can claim to have the latest and greatest technology. We do it because it is the single best way for our clients to avoid the technology obsolesce trap. Done correctly, our clients will never deal with a legacy replacement project again. Change will evolve incrementally and naturally,” continued Ahuja.

Microsoft Director of Sales for State and Local Government, Ingrid Hoff, acknowledged “As an early adopter of .NET 2.0 technologies, Sagitec’s framework approach shortened time to market, accelerated development and streamlined services. In the process, Sagitec positioned itself as an innovative leader in the public pension industry.”
