Organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announced that the Diamond Trading Company (DTC), the sales and marketing arm of the De Beers Group will organise the Diamond Day on December 5th and 6th as part of the Watch & Jewellery Dubai 2005 (WJD), to encourage diamond trading in the region.

WJD, the region’s leading trade platform for the watch and jewellery industry, will take place at the Airport Expo Dubai from December 5th to 9th, 2005.

The UAE’s share of the global diamond trade continues to grow with the value of exports and re-exports reaching AED 5.4 billion in 2004 (up by 30% over the previous year).

“The Diamond Day which was held for the first time last year, generated significant interest among international and regional jewellers which prompted DWTC and DTC to make this a permanent fixture at WJD” said DWTC Director General, Helal Saeed Khalfan Al Marri.

This year the DTC, in conjunction with WJD, will host Sightholders to a ‘Local Market Knowledge and Opportunity Seminar’ on December 5th, which will be followed by a ‘Local Market Insight Workshop’ on December 6th. These two sessions will take an in-depth look at the market within Saudi Arabia and discuss consumer market information on the Gulf.

In addition, the DTC will be running separate seminars on trade prospects in Dubai and consumer confidence. The two-day session will conclude with a Gala Dinner on Tuesday December 6th, 2005 during which Sightholders will be able to interact with leading manufacturers and industry professionals.

Other attractive features at the 11th edition of the show include the Designer Piazza, the Branded Jewellery Area, Gold Expressions by the World Gold Council and industry seminars and workshops to name but a few.

Visitors to WJD can also see the display of exquisite jewellery and watch items from around the world including diamond, platinum, plain gold, silver, pearl and coloured gemstone jewellery, loose diamonds, pearls, precious and semi-precious stones, mountings, watches, packaging and display materials and manufacturing tools and machinery.
