PASADENA, CA - Award-winning KKE Architects, Inc., headquartered in Minneapolis, with offices in Las Vegas; Pasadena and Irvine, Calif., announced today the company has been awarded the design contract for Euclid Plaza in the City of Chino by The Evans Company of Palm Desert, Calif.

Estimated at $20 million, Euclid Plaza is proposed as a 107,000-square-foot grocery and drug anchored shopping center located at the southwest corner of Euclid and Schaefer avenues, in the heart of the East Chino Specific Plan and Ontario’s New Model Colony.

“We selected KKE as our project architect because of their design skills and ability to work directly with city staff to move the entitlement process along skillfully,” says Fred Evans of The Evans Company.

KKE will provide conceptual designs and imaging for the project as well as represent the The Evans Company for entitlement processing. Initial schematic designs have been submitted to the City’s Design Review Committee for approval.

“KKE was asked to help with a new vision for the site and adjacent property. Working on our behalf, Brian Arial, KKE’s managing principal, very quickly met with the City and came up with a conceptual plan that married the City’s goals with our development needs,” says Rick Evans of The Evans Company.

“This is a very unique project that addresses the lifestyle needs of the community of Chino,” notes KKE’s Brian Arial, AIA. "Euclid Plaza, which is located on the border of Chino and Ontario, is situated on a major corridor and will become a destination for the surrounding community.”

Located in the one of the fast growing residential populations in the Inland Empire, it is expected that within the project’s five-mile trade area, there will be a 73 percent increase in population to 429,668 by end of 2007.

“Euclid Plaza is a traditional neighborhood center that has a very intimate village feel. The design functions around a main street running through the project, and embraces outdoor living rooms that promote people to stay and enjoy the shopping experience,” Arial adds.

Once conceptual design and entitlement are approved, construction should begin by spring 2006 and expected to be completed by late 2006 or early 2007.
