German Luxury Cruise Liner Docks In Dubai

The state-of-the-art Dubai Cruise Terminal recently played a host to German cruise ship Detuschland which arrived in Dubai for a two-day programme with more than 757 passengers and 260 crew members on board in the midst of a busy winter cruise season in the emirate.

On arrival, the passengers were treated to a traditional Arabic welcome ceremony with school children offering flowers. UAE nationals, dressed in their traditional clothes, offered a taste of the typical Arabian hospitality and culture.

Guests were offered Gahwah (Arabic coffee) while the Ayyalla band performed. There was also a traditional heritage and handicraft display and the Dubai Police band was also in attendance.

The cruise ship arrived from Muscat and remained docked in Dubai for two days before leaving for Abu Dhabi en route to Mumbai. The vessel then sails to Male (Maldives) and Colombo (Sri Lanka). There was a passenger exchange programme in Dubai.

Gulf Agency Company (GAC Dubai) were the agents for the cruise liner while SNTTA Emir Tours/ World of Events were the tour operators.

The ship-shaped Dubai Cruise Terminal is located on a 335-metre quay offering the capacity to berth two ships simultaneously, while the terminal itself is around 3,300 square meters in size.

The Dubai Cruise Terminal is the world's first to receive ISO-9002 certification and also the world’s only cruise facility run by the government tourism body.
