Local Massachusetts Doctor Becomes Certified Medical Examiner for DOT Examinations and Physicals

Framingham, Massachusetts   November 08, 2013   Health News
(PRLEAP.COM) Beginning May 21, 2014, all commercial drivers seeking a medical certificate must use a medical examiner on the National Registry of Medical Examiners. Those physicians who wish to conduct medical examinations for CMV drivers must complete training about FMCSA's physical qualifications, regulations and advisory criteria and pass a certification test to be listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

All medical certificates issued on or after this date must be issued by examiners listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. This means that if you have been seeing your primary care doctor for your CDL physical, starting on May 21, 2014, unless they are certified by the National Registry, they are no longer able to perform them and give you your medical certificate.

Dr. Howard Austrager, a chiropractor in Framingham, is one of only a few doctors who is certified by the National Registry Certified Medical Examiner in the Boston area. If you or your drivers worry that a medical condition will affect their driving status, Dr. Austrager knows how to steer thru the rules to keep them certified.

Although there has been concern about upcoming mandatory sleep apnea and new pulmonary testing for drivers that smoke, we have cost saving answers that can save thousands of dollars.

Same day appointments are available at our Framingham office. Our pricing is competitive and we can usually save you both time and money on your next DOT Examination.
