BRANDISSIMO! INC. ANNOUNCES SPECTRUM CONNECTIONS: First DVDs and CDs designed specifically for autistic children

December 14, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
Brandissimo! Inc., a family entertainment production company, has announced Spectrum Connections, an entertainment brand designed for children on the spectrum of autism and related disorders. The initial Spectrum Connections release includes two DVDs and a music CD.

The Autism Society of America estimates that 1.5 million Americans have some form of autism, and according to U.S. Department of Education the number of autistic children in the United States is growing by 10 to 17 percent each year. If these trends continue, the number of autistic children in America could reach 4 million in the next decade. Autism affects children regardless of racial, ethnic, or social boundaries, family income, lifestyle, or educational levels.

Before now, however, there has been no entertainment designed specifically for autistic children. Spectrum Connections DVDs and CDs are designed to provide thousands of motivated and often overwhelmed parents with relief and joy at seeing their children appropriately entertained.

The fist two Spectrum Connections DVDs—“Connecting Emotions through Music” and “Connecting Body Movement through Music” and companion CD—were created and directed by Cleve Keller, the mother of an autistic child. The videos are hosted by Elizabeth Balzano, MA, MT-BC, a practicing music therapist, and feature Balloo, a computer animated character.

Spectrum Connections is produced under the guidance of autism medical specialists and designed for the special developmental needs of autistic children. Pacing and transitions enhance the ease of information reception, complex color patterns and textures in wardrobe and background are limited to minimize over-stimulation, and Balloo engages and sustains viewer interest. The music and lyrics maximize accessibility and comprehension through generalization, repetition and appropriate modeling of song content.

“Connecting Emotions through Music,” features six original songs and activities that help children identify and coordinate key emotions and physical activities. “Connecting Body Movement through Music” helps kids differentiate basic physical concepts, such as up and down and stop and go. The music CD is a compilation of songs and music from the first two episodes.

Executive Producer Bill Gross, President of Brandissimo! Inc., said, “We developed Spectrum Connections to provide high-quality, meaningful entertainment to this vastly underserved audience and help raise awareness of the severity and scope of this disease.”

Gross and Executive Producers David Snyder and Frank Fraser are children’s entertainment veterans and former Walt Disney Company creative executives who have worked on such well-known children’s properties as Thomas the Tank Engine and Winnie the Pooh.

Spectrum Connections is distributed by Genius Products, Inc. (OTCBB:GNPI). According to Trevor Drinkwater, the Chief Executive Officer of Genius Products Inc, "Genius Products is particularly proud to play a pivotal role in Spectrum Connections. Through these high-quality products, we are delivering on Genius Entertainment's promise to all parents by contributing to healthier, happier and smarter children in this special-needs area."

Director Cleve Keller commented that, “One thing I've learned about kids with spectrum issues is that they are—first and foremost—kids. Spectrum Connections was born out of the belief that spectrum kids should have the coolest, most entertaining programs possible.”

Spectrum Connections “Connecting Emotions through Music” and “Connecting Body Movement through Music” are available at Borders stores nationwide and Borders.com, and at www.SpectrumConnections.com, specialty retailers, BN.com, and Amazon.com. Six additional volumes are planned in 2006.
