Over the past sixty years, the Hawaii Jaycees have been one of the pinnacles of community service and leadership training to Hawaii's young people. From
creating the Blood Bank of Hawaii to being a Key participant and donor, as
the Most Outstanding Non-Commercial Donor to the 25th Silver Anniversary
of the Statehood for Hawaii in the 1980's, the Hawaii Jaycees have always been there for the people of Hawaii. Even now, the Hawaii Jaycees continue to serve it's community through service projects, such as food drives and individual development trainings, as well as through a number of members now serving in the military in Iraq, Hawaii Jaycees are there during peace and war.
Now in it's sixtieth year, the Hawaii Jaycees continue to extol the virtues of its founder R. Allen Watkins in continuing the quest to be the best leadership development organization for young people in Hawaii.
To celebrate both the past successes and future challenges, the Hawaii Jaycees
will be celebrating it's 60th anniversary on January 22, 2005 at the Ala Moana
Hotel Lanai Ballroom at 12 noon. At the event, past presidents and members of
the Hawaii Jaycees will mingle with current members. It is estimated that
between 150 and 200 Jaycees will be present at the lunch and associated
program.
Details of the program will be made known as final preparations for the event are finalized. The 60th anniversary luncheon celebration will take place along with the 2004 Hawaii Jaycees year-end convention, in which the successes over the past year will be celebrated at a lunch ceremony the afternoon of January 22. The whole convention takes place over three days, from January 21 to 23, 2005, all at the Ala Moana Hotel, Honolulu.
Now in it's 60th year, the Hawaii Jaycees is a non-profit corporation and is composed of 16 chapters throughout the state, with over 600 young men and women sharing the Jaycee experience. Its mission is to provide young people between the ages of 21 to 39 the opportunity for personal leadership development through personal and professional growth, networking and community involvement
