May 1, 2014 - In preparation for demolition of the old Williams Lake Hotel buildings, the Williams Lake Project is hosting a public auction of Williams Lake Hotel furniture and memorabilia on May 10th and a community yard sale on May 24th & 25th. The auction and yard sale are means to reuse and recycle the contents of the hotel buildings and reduce the volume of waste destined for landfills. The Williams Lake Project will donate unsold materials to local organizations after the two events.

On Saturday, May 10th at 9a.m., JMW Auction Gallery of Kingston will hold an auction of kitchen equipment and hotel furnishings on site at the Williams Lake Hotel property. The auction is open to the public. Images of items up for auction are available at JMWauction.com.

Following the auction, the "Mother-of-all Yard Sales" will be held at Williams Lake on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, May 24th & 25th, from 10AM to 6PM. The yard sale will include local Rosendale organizations selling their wares to fundraise for their own organizations. Confirmed participants include the Rosendale Pool Fund, Rosendale Food Pantry, Rosendale Theatre Collective, and CCE (Center for Creative Education), with more expected to participate.

During the yard sale, guests will enjoy live music and food provided by a top Hudson Valley Food Truck — Black Forest Flammkuchen — which serves traditional Alsatian brick-oven pizza.

Live entertainment includes local bands on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, POOK (Percussion Orchestra of Kingston) will perform at 2PM, followed by local band Yard Sale at 4PM. On Sunday, Cleoma's Ghost will lead off at 2PM with M'Bolla playing at 4PM on Sunday.

Admission to the "Mother of All Yard Sales" is open to the public and free of charge.

"All of us at the Williams Lake Project are excited about these two great events," said Tim Allred, Project Manager. "The auction and yard sale are part of our 'green demolition' strategy to reduce waste, while providing the community the opportunity to obtain a piece of history from the wonderful Williams Lake Hotel. We are glad to help local organizations raise money in the yard sale and we are pleased to donate furniture and fixtures to Habitat for Humanity, the Boy Scouts, Goodwill, the Salvation Army and other organizations. Finally, we are grateful for the local bands that will put a bump in the yard sale's step. We hope to see you there!"
