Meaningful Use Monitor Offers CMS Batch Attestation Add-Ons for EHRs

June 09, 2014 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
June 9, 2014 - Rochester, WI – Meaningful Use Monitor (MUM), a meaningful use compliance software developer, announces the upcoming release of add-on interfaces for electronic health records (EHR) software that will enable providers to submit batch attestations for both federal and state meaningful use incentive programs.

MUM is developing the EHR add-ons in response to a CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid) announcement that physicians and hospitals can now submit attestation information for all Medicare eligible hospitals (EHs) and eligible professionals (EPs) in a batch upload, rather than individually for each EP.

The CMS announcement applies only to Medicare, however, providers attesting for the Medicaid meaningful use incentive program should check with their state's Medicaid program to determine whether batch reporting is available. Once a provider confirms that their state Medicaid program supports batch reporting, MUM can begin developing a batch upload interface specifically designed for the provider's existing EHR software.

Batch upload capability is expected to dramatically reduce the data entry time normally required for manual entry of individual attestation information (typically, 20 to 60 minutes per physician). MUM's add-on will allow meaningful use coordinators to upload information for up to 10,000 physicians at a time, saving countless hours of data entry time.

Meaningful Use Monitor offers a suite of products and services, and has helped dozens of hospitals and over 1,200 physicians understand and achieve meaningful use and avoid recoupment of CMS incentive payments. The release of the enhanced software will allow meaningful use coordinators to focus more of their time and energy on ensuring meaningful use compliance versus time-consuming data entry.

The majority of EHR vendors will not offer batch attestation add-ons; therefore, MUM urges eligible hospitals and professionals to inquire about MUM's batch upload add-on well in advance of the next attestation.
