August 4, 2014 - Potomac Photonics, Inc., a Micro Digital Fabrication company based at the bwtech@umbc research and technology park in Baltimore, Maryland, has expanded its website to reflect increased focus on new additive manufacturing activities. The 3D Printing section of www.potomac-laser.com adds technical information and application guidance on 3D Printing to educate engineers, innovators, inventors, managers, manufacturers, artists and educators on the rapidly changing field.

Potomac has worked in digital fabrication since 1986, and brings to 3D Printing a wealth of practical know-how in CAD design, machine code, design for manufacturing, parts handling, post processing, part replication, and assembly.

"We're especially excited about projects where we combine our other digital fabrication tools with 3D Printing for unique solutions to customer's manufacturing problems," says Potomac President and CEO Mike Adelstein. "Projects like the microfluidic device pictured here utilize the optimal capabilities of 3D Printing with laser micromachining, micro-CNC machining, or hot embossing replication. With our broad experience, we can select exactly the right tool for the job."

In addition to prototyping, there are also production applications. Mr. Adelstein continues, "While 3D Printing does have a strong place in our rapid prototyping area, we are also finding the technology's speed and throughput is advancing so that it can be utilized in production settings as well."

The new website 3D Printing section includes a What is 3D Printing? tutorial, case studies, application examples and information on 3D Systems 3D Printers. Go to our 3D printing section to get the information first-hand.
