September 5, 2014 - OVERLAND PARK, KS — In recognition of September's Life Insurance Awareness Month campaign, USBA (Uniformed Services Benefit Association) today announced the launch of its #WhoIProtect Photo Contest.

During the month of September, the association which offers group life insurance to active duty, retired and former Service members, asks military families to help spread the message about the importance of having adequate life insurance by posting a photo of the loved ones they protect on USBA's Facebook page for a chance to win $500 cash.

"It's a serious topic that unfortunately no one likes to think about," explains USBA's President/CEO, Colonel Robin A. Snyder, USAF (Ret.). "We hope that offering a fun, engaging way to share the message will expand awareness about this important matter throughout the military community."

Military families, current and former members of the armed forces, as well as spouses, may enter the contest by submitting their photos beginning Thursday, Sept. 4, through Friday, Sept. 19. Entries may be posted directly to the USBA Facebook Contest page, or on Twitter and Instagram by using the hashtag #WhoIProtect. Winners will be selected by highest number of votes during Saturday, Sept. 20 through Tuesday, Sept. 30 and announced on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014.

One Grand Prize winner will receive $500 and be featured as the cover photo on USBA's Facebook page throughout the month of October. Two runners-up will each receive a $250 prize. Anyone can vote, so USBA urges participants to share their entries on Facebook during the contest voting period.

USBA is a nonprofit organization providing a variety of low-cost group life insurance plans and other financial services to the Active Duty and Retired Military market as well as Honorably Discharged Veterans, National Guard, Reserves and Federal civilian employees.
